Research poster template editing guide

1. Open the single-slide PPTX

The file contains one editable poster slide. In PowerPoint, confirm Design → Slide Size against your venue requirements. A0, A1, 36×48 and 48×36 are different physical sizes.

2. Edit the text

Click the title, author details and body text to replace them. Replace all guidance, keep the study sections, references and acknowledgements, and use short paragraphs instead of shrinking text.

3. Replace figures, logos and QR codes

The empty figure areas are native PowerPoint picture placeholders. Use the insert-picture icon in the placeholder. Replace an existing image with Change Picture, preserve its aspect ratio, and review cropping and captions. Institution logos and QR codes work the same way. Placeholder UI can differ between applications.

4. Edit tables

Where a template includes a table, edit its cells and column names directly. Guidance is not research evidence: supply your own verified values, groups, units, uncertainty and citations.

5. Check fonts and export

The templates specify Noto Sans SC for Chinese and Arial for Latin text. Install the linked Noto font if needed, or choose an available font and review line wrapping. Export a PDF and check that it has one page at the correct physical size, with legible images, no text overflow and a working QR code.

Sources and versions

The new MakeFigures general and discipline layouts are original designs. Single-slide SciFig editions extract the poster slide and preserve original credits and terms; the two-slide sources are archived separately. SciFig terms require template credits and restrict redistribution, sale or paywalling as your own template.
